3D bioprinting builds living tissue the way a desktop 3D printer builds plastic parts, except the "ink" is a hydrogel loaded with living cells and the goal is a scaffold cells can survive and grow inside. This simulator visualizes an extrusion print head laying down a woodpile lattice scaffold strand by strand: each layer's parallel strands run perpendicular to the layer beneath it, leaving open channels for nutrients and, eventually, blood vessels. Print speed, layer height, nozzle diameter and bioink material all interact — adjust them to see how the trade-off between print resolution, print time and cell-damaging shear stress plays out in real time.
