The same biphasic story as the 3D population simulator, distilled into a live 2D curve you can probe directly: two independent Hill-function terms — one stimulatory, one inhibitory — are evaluated at every dose and summed, so the plotted response is a real function evaluation at each point rather than a pre-baked shape. Drag the dose marker along the curve to read the exact response at any point, and watch the app numerically hunt for the dose of maximum stimulation — the peak of the "hormetic zone" — by bisecting the derivative of the curve to zero. Adjust the two half-maximal doses and the two effect magnitudes to see how the hump forms, widens, or collapses into an ordinary monotonic toxicity curve.
