🧪 Ecology Advanced Biodiversity Conservation Simulation

Allocate a limited conservation budget across four endangered species using the Project Prioritization Protocol: watch diminishing returns, extinction risk and population trajectories play out in 3D, or let a marginal-cost-effectiveness optimizer allocate for you.

Real conservation budgets never cover every endangered species — agencies must decide where a limited pool of funding does the most good. This simulator implements the Project Prioritization Protocol, the marginal cost-effectiveness framework used to rank conservation investments: fund four illustrative endangered species (a vaquita population, a kākāpō population, a Sumatran rhino population and an Iberian lynx population), each with its own cost to fully protect, baseline extinction risk and biodiversity weight, and watch expected biodiversity saved respond to diminishing returns as you move money between them. Run the auto-optimizer to see the marginal-benefit-per-dollar allocation a real agency would target, or press play to watch each population's stochastic fate unfold year by year in the 3D scene.

⚙ Under the hood

This simulation explores ecological principles of biodiversity conservation within a dynamic ecosystem. Users can manipulate factors to observe their impact on species populations.
