Real conservation budgets never cover every endangered species — agencies must decide where a limited pool of funding does the most good. This simulator implements the Project Prioritization Protocol, the marginal cost-effectiveness framework used to rank conservation investments: fund four illustrative endangered species (a vaquita population, a kākāpō population, a Sumatran rhino population and an Iberian lynx population), each with its own cost to fully protect, baseline extinction risk and biodiversity weight, and watch expected biodiversity saved respond to diminishing returns as you move money between them.
