Life-Support Efficiency Frontier

Tune power budget, weight budget and a CO2 scrubbing target to see the Pareto tradeoff frontier a spacecraft life-support system operates on: raising one metric always costs another.

A spacecraft life-support scrubber's performance is never one number going up — it's a tradeoff between power draw, hardware weight and the CO₂ removal rate the crew needs. This simulator plots the exact Pareto frontier in the power/weight plane for a chosen scrubbing target: every point on the curve is a different, equally valid way to just meet that target, trading power for weight or back. Drag the design point off the curve to see how missing the target or over-building past it both cost the mission's efficiency score.

⚙ Under the hood

Explore the balance between power and weight in space-life-support systems using a Cobb-Douglas capacity function.
