Microfluidic LNP Mixing — 2D Cross-Section Field

Interactive 2D cross-section simulation of staggered-herringbone microfluidic mixing for mRNA-LNP manufacturing: a stretch-and-fold advection-diffusion field model shows how flow rate, flow-ratio and groove folding collapse the mixing length and set nanoparticle size.

This is the 2D counterpart to the 3D Microfluidic LNP Nanoprecipitation simulator. Instead of flying particles through a rendered 3D channel, it solves a genuine advection–diffusion field on a 2D grid representing the channel cross-section unrolled along its length: an ethanol/lipid stream (blue) meets an aqueous mRNA stream (orange) at the inlet, and the field is periodically stretched and folded by the staggered-herringbone ridges (or left to diffuse alone when the grooves are switched off). Tune the total flow rate, the aqueous:organic flow-rate ratio and the lipid concentration and watch the field itself — and the Reynolds number, mixing completeness, nanoparticle diameter, polydispersity index and estimated encapsulation efficiency derived from it — respond live.
