Every tidal barrage trades free tidal flushing for controllable head. This simulator impounds a basin behind a set of sluice gates and integrates a linear-reservoir model of the basin water level against a real M2 lunar tide, then feeds the resulting exchange velocity into a deposition–erosion law for suspended sediment. Widen the gates or raise the tidal range and fast currents keep sediment in suspension; narrow the gates for a steadier generating head and slack water lets sediment settle, gradually raising the basin bed, shrinking the tidal prism, and eating into the exposed mudflat that wading birds and juvenile fish depend on — the same siltation trade-off engineers weigh when they choose a barrage's operating regime.
