Embodied-Energy Amortization Lab
Interactive 3D lifecycle-energy simulator: watch a product's embodied energy flow through extraction, manufacturing, use and end-of-life, and see how repair rate and recycling recovery change the annualized energy cost per year of service.
Sustainable consumption is a thermodynamics problem before it's a shopping problem: every product carries a fixed embodied energy paid once at manufacture, and the only lever a consumer really controls is how many years of service they stretch that energy across. This simulator renders a four-stage lifecycle pipeline — Extraction, Manufacturing, Use, End-of-Life — as a 3D particle flow, and lets you tune a product's base lifespan, repair rate and recycling recovery to see the annualized energy cost per year of use rise or fall in real time, following E_annual = E0·(1 − ρη) / (L0·(1 + rk)). Switch between a phone, a laptop and a jacket to see how baseline embodied energy changes the starting picture, then watch how repair and recycling reshape the flow far more than any single "greener" purchase would.
