Tidal Kite Power: Crosswind Plane & Power Curve (2D)
Interactive 2D diagram of a tethered underwater tidal kite: the actual crosswind flight plane traced as a lemniscate loop, paired with a live cube-law power curve and rolling time-strip chart — tune current speed, kite speed ratio, rotor size and flight amplitude.
This 2D companion draws the actual crosswind plane a tethered underwater tidal kite flies through — a flat plane perpendicular to the ambient tidal current — as a genuine parametric lemniscate curve, rather than a flattened camera view of a 3D scene. Because the kite's own flight speed adds far more relative flow across its onboard turbine than the ambient current alone, power output scales with the cube of that effective velocity. Alongside the flight-plane diagram, a live power-curve chart plots the full cube-law P(v) relationship with a marker at the current operating point, and a rolling time-strip chart shows effective flow speed and power responding together as you tune the tidal current, the kite's achievable speed ratio, its rotor size and its flight amplitude.
A 2D diagram of the crosswind plane in which a tethered underwater tidal kite flies its figure-8 loop, drawn as a genuine lemniscate parametric curve and paired with a live cube-law power curve and rolling time-strip chart — tune current speed, kite speed ratio, rotor size and flight amplitude and watch effective flow speed and power respond together.
