The Clink: Acoustic Resonance of a Toast Glass (2D)
A 2D cross-section and top-down mode-shape view of a toast glass's thin-shell resonance: drag the same real thickness, radius, height, material and fill-level parameters, click the glass, and watch the rim breathe through its elliptical resonant mode at the computed pitch.
The same real thin-shell resonance as the 3D edition, viewed as two flat diagrams instead of a rendered glass: a side cross-section that shows the wall profile and liquid level, and a top-down mode-shape ring that plots the rim's elliptical "breathing" deformation directly against angle. Thickness, radius, height, material and fill level all drive the same live frequency formula, and clicking the glass excites the mode you can both see as a decaying elliptical distortion and hear via Web Audio synthesis at the exact computed pitch.
A 2D cross-section and top-down mode-shape view of the same real thin-shell glass resonance — drag the geometry and material sliders and click the glass to hear and see its computed pitch.
