The Clink: Acoustic Resonance of a Toast Glass
A real thin-shell resonance model: adjust a toast glass's wall thickness, radius, height, material and liquid fill level and watch its computed resonant frequency change, then click the glass to clink it and hear that exact pitch as its rim breathes through the fundamental elliptical mode.
A toast glass's ring is real thin-shell acoustics: its wall thickness, bowl radius, height and material set a natural resonant frequency the same way they do for a bell, and clinking it excites that frequency as an elliptical "breathing" oscillation of the rim. This simulator builds a live glass from those four real parameters, computes its fundamental frequency from thin-shell vibration theory in real time, and lets you click the glass to hear — via genuine Web Audio synthesis — and see the exact pitch and mode shape those parameters produce, including the well-known trick of retuning a glass by adding liquid.
A toast glass's wall thickness, radius, height and material set its natural resonant frequency like a thin vibrating shell, and clinking it excites that pitch as a visible elliptical breathing of the rim.
