This simulation places four genuinely fluorescent objects — a scorpion, a glass of tonic water, a mineral rock, and a piece of white fabric — inside a real 3D dark room that you orbit with the camera. Switch on the UV lamp, drag it around the floor and raise or lower it, and watch each object light up in its own real characteristic color only when it is close enough to, and facing, the UV source, exactly as real fluorescent materials respond to a physical blacklight through the Stokes-shift mechanism described below. Each object's true fluorescence color and cause are explained in the material picker panel.
