This 2D simulator draws a poloidal cross-section through a tokamak's donut-shaped vacuum vessel: helical magnetic field lines confine a cloud of deuterium-tritium ions inside a fixed vessel wall. Raise the plasma temperature and magnetic field strength sliders to watch the ions heat up, drift less, and stay confined longer, driving the Lawson triple product (density × temperature × confinement time) toward the real ignition threshold of roughly 3×10²¹ keV·s/m³. Once conditions get hot and well-confined enough, deuterium-tritium fusion events start flashing across the plasma, each one releasing 17.6 MeV exactly as it would inside a real reactor core.

⚙ Under the hood

Tune plasma temperature and magnetic field strength in a 2D tokamak cross-section and watch the Lawson triple product climb toward the real deuterium-tritium ignition threshold.
