Glacier Calving: Stress Fracture & Splash (2D)

2D glacier-calving lab: meltwater-driven crevasse stress grows until an ice block fractures free, falls under gravity and splashes into a windblown ocean — watch stress, mass loss and splash counts update live.

The 3D original renders a calving glacier with a displaced-icosahedron ice mass, a wave-height ocean plane and a burst of additive splash particles on a fixed timer. This 2D companion keeps the same gravity fall and splash particles but drives the calving event itself with a real crevasse-stress model: meltwater accumulation raises stress until the shelf fractures, and the shelf's length recovers afterward as upstream ice flow resupplies the calving front — both rates are exposed as sliders so you can push the glacier toward frequent small calvings or slow, dramatic ones.
