Sandstorm Desert (2D)

2D canvas companion to the 3D dune scene: three depth-layered clouds of sand grains advect across a sine-profiled dune horizon, with wind speed, grain density, turbulence and haze all live-adjustable.

This 2D companion reduces the 3D dune scene to a plain canvas view: a sine-based horizon line stands in for the heightfield, and three parallax layers of sand grains drift across it at depth-scaled speeds, matching the near/mid/far particle layering of the original. Push the wind-speed slider up and the whole field accelerates and the haze thickens; raise turbulence and each grain picks up a visible vertical wobble as it crosses the frame.

⚙ Under the hood

Layered 2D particle advection over a sine-composited dune silhouette, with wind speed, grain density, turbulence and haze as live parameters and a rolling readout of grain count and average horizontal drift.
