Baroreflex Sigmoid Curve & Set-Point Resetting
Interactive 3D model of the arterial baroreflex stimulus-response curve: drive mean arterial pressure along the sigmoid firing-rate relationship, adjust reflex gain and set-point resetting, and watch afferent/efferent nerve traffic and heart rate respond in real time.
The arterial baroreflex does not respond to blood pressure in a straight line — it follows a saturating sigmoid curve, steepest around a "set-point" and flattening near its floor and ceiling. This simulator renders that stimulus-response curve in 3D alongside a model carotid sinus and heart, lets you drive mean arterial pressure along the curve, adjust the reflex's gain (sensitivity) and its set-point, and watch afferent nerve traffic, efferent vagal/sympathetic signalling and heart rate respond exactly as the governing logistic equation dictates — including the physiologically important phenomenon of baroreflex resetting in chronic hypertension.
