Every connected sensor faces the same fork in the road: process the reading locally at an edge gateway, or ship it to the cloud. This 2D simulator generates a real packet stream at a configurable arrival rate and routes each packet through a single-server FIFO queue at the edge — exactly the queueing-theory model (a bounded, deterministic-fluid queue with overflow) that real IoT gateways use — offloading to the cloud once the queue backs up past a threshold you control. A pannable, zoomable network diagram shows packets travelling from the device to the edge gateway or the distant cloud node while a live strip chart plots edge vs cloud latency over time, so you can see directly how arrival rate, edge capacity, overflow threshold and cloud round-trip time trade off against each other.
