Task Offloading: Local vs Edge vs Cloud (2D)

Interactive 2D simulator of the mobile-edge-computing offload decision: for each task, compare on-device compute, a nearby edge server and the distant cloud using a real energy-latency cost model with Shannon-capacity radio links.

This simulator models the core decision every IoT Edge platform has to make thousands of times a second: should a given task run on the device itself, on a nearby edge server, or be sent all the way to the cloud? Each spawned task gets a real cost computed from a CMOS dynamic-power model for local compute, a Shannon-capacity radio link for the wireless hop, and fixed propagation delay for the edge and cloud round trips — then the task visibly travels the winning path across a flat, pannable network diagram with a live cost-bar readout underneath. Tune the workload, payload size, radio quality, device clock speed and the latency/energy weighting to see exactly when offloading pays off and when it doesn't.
