CRISPR Gene Therapy (2D)

Flattened 2D companion to the 3D CRISPR gene therapy simulator: a scrolling DNA ladder scanned by a guide-RNA/Cas9 marker that cuts, base-edits or prime-edits on-target sites while risking off-target edits at decoy sequences.

This flattened companion to the 3D CRISPR gene therapy simulator draws the same guide-RNA/Cas9 search-and-edit process on a straight, scrolling DNA ladder instead of a rotating helix: two backbone rails and evenly spaced base-pair rungs, with a glowing marker that slides along the strand and pauses whenever it reaches a highlighted candidate site. Guide-RNA specificity sets the odds of a genuine on-target edit versus a mistaken off-target edit at a nearby decoy sequence — exactly the probability trade-off (P(on-target) = specificity, P(off-target) = (1 − specificity) × decoy density) that drives the 3D version — and the chosen editing mode changes how a successful edit is rendered: a visible gap for a Cas9 cut, a white flash for a base edit, or a green rewritten segment for a prime edit.
