🧪 Theater Theater Innovation Simulation
Interactive stage-projection simulator: move a virtual video projector off-axis around a folded theater backdrop and watch real keystone distortion appear, then toggle Kooima's generalized off-axis (lens-shift) projection algorithm to rectify it live, exactly as modern projection-mapping rigs do.
Video projection mapping is one of the genuine technological innovations reshaping live theater over the last two decades — replacing painted backdrops with light that can be aimed, warped and recalibrated in seconds. This simulator models a real stage set as three angled flats and drives a virtual projector across an adjustable rig, letting you watch the classic "keystone" trapezoid distortion appear whenever the projector sits off to one side, then rectify it live with Robert Kooima's generalized off-axis perspective projection — the same lens-shift maths used by real CAVE displays and multi-projector stage installations. Move the offset, height and throw-distance controls to explore how a projector's geometry, not its brightness, decides whether an image reads as a clean rectangle or a warped smear across the set.
Experiment with new ideas and techniques within a theatrical context. This simulation encourages creative problem-solving and exploration of unconventional approaches to performance.
