Adaptive Flood Barrier (2D)
Interactive 2D side-view simulator of a passive, buoyancy-activated flood barrier: a hollow gate floats up in its guide channel as water rises and seals itself with no pumps or electronics, with live hydrostatic pressure and a water-level-vs-barrier-height graph.
This 2D side-view simulator recreates the same passive, buoyancy-activated flood defence as the 3D adaptive flood barrier, viewed in cross-section: a sealed hollow gate rests on the sill of a guide channel and floats upward purely from Archimedes' principle as the water level rises, with no pumps, sensors or power. Drag the water-level slider (or run the full flood-event playback) to watch the gate stay grounded below its draft, then rise 1:1 with the flood once it floats free, and finally seal itself against a fixed frame at the design flood height. A live readout tracks the hydrostatic pressure and force the sealed gate must withstand as the water deepens, and the rolling graph plots water level against barrier height so the lag between "grounded" and "sealed" is visible at a glance.
