🔌 Grid Battery Storage Lab: Peak Shaving, Frequency Regulation and the Duck Curve
A grid-scale battery plant on a day of load and solar: the duck curve, arbitrage, peak shaving and fast frequency response after a generator trip (swing equation). A Blender-built, Three.js teaching model.
A containerised grid-scale lithium-ion battery plant, inspired by publicly reported systems of hundreds of MWh, on a day of load, solar and wind: the duck curve, price arbitrage by dynamic programming, peak shaving (energy needed = integral of net load above the cap) and fast frequency response after a generator trip using the swing equation with governor droop, RoCoF and nadir with and without the battery. Existing smart-grid sims cover frequency or storage alone; this one links the daily duck curve to the second-scale frequency event, with a Blender-built battery field, substation, towers, solar and wind farms.
