Solar-Wind Complementarity — Phase-Space & Battery Buffer (2D)
Interactive 2D companion to the 3D hybrid power plant: instead of rendering the hardware, this view plots every live (solar, wind) output pair as a point in phase space and draws the covariance ellipse that geometrically encodes their Pearson correlation, alongside a radial battery gauge and a live smoothing meter.
This 2D companion to the 3D hybrid power plant strips away the rendered hardware and shows the underlying statistics directly. The same live solar-irradiance and wind-speed curves drive the physics, but instead of watching panels glow and turbines spin, every simulated hour plots one point at (solar output %, wind output %) into a scrolling phase-space scatter. The shape that cloud of points traces out is the correlation itself: a tilted 2-standard-deviation covariance ellipse is recomputed from the last 96 simulated hours and drawn right over the scatter, rotating toward the falling diagonal when the two sources complement each other and toward the rising diagonal when they move together. A radial gauge tracks the battery's state of charge with the identical charge/discharge model as the 3D version, and a pair of smoothing-meter bars compares the raw combined generation against what actually reaches the grid once the battery has firmed it. Push cloud variability and wind turbulence up to stress the system, then size the battery buffer and watch the ellipse and the meter respond together.
