Wind Turbine Yaw Control (2D)
Interactive 2D wind turbine yaw simulator: a top-down rotor disc, a live power-output strip chart and a polar cos^p(gamma) loss-law plot show how an active yaw drive tracks a shifting wind and how much energy a misaligned rotor gives up.
A wind turbine only captures full power when its rotor faces the wind squarely. This 2D simulator models the active yaw drive that keeps a turbine nacelle tracking a shifting wind direction: a deadband stops the drive from chasing every small gust, a rate limit caps how fast the nacelle can physically turn, and the resulting yaw misalignment angle γ feeds the empirical cos^p(γ) power-loss law used across the wind industry. A top-down disc view shows the swept area foreshortening as it yaws, a strip chart tracks power output live, and a polar plot traces the full loss curve with your current error marked on it.
