Migration Corridors Simulator

Interactive 3D model of a wildlife migration corridor: a herd travels between two fragmented habitat patches while urban barriers and corridor width determine how many animals get through, with connectivity, migrants in transit and success rate tunable and tracked live.

Migration corridors are the geographically defined routes migrating species rely on to move between breeding grounds, feeding areas and seasonal habitats. This simulator visualizes a herd crossing one such corridor between two fragmented habitat patches: each migrant walks the corridor with a small lateral wander, and barrier structures representing roads, fences and urban development encroach on the available clear width. Tune corridor width, urbanization pressure and migration speed to see how connectivity — the fraction of the corridor's width that stays clear of barriers — governs whether the population keeps moving or gets cut off.
