Cosmic Dust Pollution Simulator

Watch micrometeoroids streak into Earth's atmosphere, ablate under frictional heating and either burn to dust or survive to seed trace-metal pollution on the surface — tune influx rate, particle size and entry velocity in real time.

Earth is continuously bombarded by micrometeoroids and cosmic dust grains, most of which burn up in the upper atmosphere through frictional ablation, seeding a fine trace-metal aerosol that settles out over the whole planet — a genuine, non-industrial background pollution source. This simulator streams grains in from deep space, tracks each one's mass loss as it crosses the atmosphere, and shows whether it fully ablates into dust or survives to strike the surface and add to a growing deposition map. Adjust influx rate, particle size and entry velocity to see how each shifts the balance between atmospheric dust loading and surface deposition.
