The ecological footprint measures how many hectares of biologically productive land and water it takes to supply everything a lifestyle consumes, and to absorb the waste it produces — mainly carbon. This simulation builds that footprint live from four everyday choices — diet, transport, energy mix and consumption — and compares the result against Earth's actual biocapacity, the roughly 1.6 global hectares per person the planet can regenerate each year. Watch the six component pillars rise and fall, and see the "how many Earths" globe grow past the fixed biocapacity globe the moment your lifestyle asks for more than the planet can renew.
