Ecological Footprint of Nations (2D)
Interactive 2D simulator comparing each country's ecological footprint against Earth's biocapacity: a bar comparison, a grid of Earths needed, and an Overshoot Day calendar arc.
This 2D simulator visualizes the Global Footprint Network's core accounting: how much biologically productive land and sea (in global hectares per person) a country's consumption requires, versus how much biocapacity Earth actually provides. A bar chart compares footprint against biocapacity, a grid of Earth icons shows how many planets it would take if everyone on Earth lived like the selected country's average resident, and a circular calendar arc marks that country's Overshoot Day — the date by which a world of such consumers would exhaust a full year's renewable budget. Switch between countries to see how a wealthy, carbon-intensive economy can require several planets' worth of resources while others live within a single Earth's means.
