Downstream biologics purification often reaches for hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC) as a polishing step that removes aggregates without the ionic-strength constraints of ion exchange. This simulator renders a packed HIC column in 3D: raise the ammonium-sulfate loading concentration to drive product and impurity onto the hydrophobic resin, then run a decreasing salt gradient and watch each species desorb at its own critical salt concentration — the more hydrophobic aggregate clings on longer, separating cleanly from the product peak. Switch between a sharp Phenyl ligand and a broader Butyl ligand to see how resin chemistry trades resolution for capacity, and track the live salt concentration, elapsed process time, and cumulative eluted fraction of each species as the run proceeds.
