Downstream biologics purification often reaches for hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC) as a polishing step that removes aggregates without the ionic-strength constraints of ion exchange. This simulator renders a packed HIC column in 3D: raise the ammonium-sulfate loading concentration to drive product and impurity onto the hydrophobic resin, then run a decreasing salt gradient and watch each species desorb at its own critical salt concentration — the more hydrophobic aggregate clings on longer, separating cleanly from the product peak.
