🧪 Climate Climate Mitigation Simulation
Allocate a limited annual budget across solar, wind, nuclear and battery storage to decarbonize a power grid over 30 years. Watch dispatch mix, emissions intensity and cumulative CO2 avoided evolve in a real capacity-buildout simulation.
This simulation models the real trade-offs of climate mitigation policy at the power-grid level: every year you allocate a fixed budget across solar, wind, nuclear and battery storage, and the grid's capacity mix, dispatch, emissions intensity and cumulative CO₂ avoided evolve over a 30-year buildout — visualized as a growing 3D power plant field. Unlike a simple carbon calculator, it models the actual bottlenecks planners face: intermittent renewables need storage to avoid curtailment and fossil backup, nuclear delivers steady baseload but grows slowly, and every dollar spent on one technology is a dollar not spent on another.
This simulation models various strategies for mitigating climate change, allowing users to experiment with different policies and technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
