Thermosyphon Foundation Cooling: 2D Ground Grid & Time Series

Interactive 2D simulator of passive thermosyphon foundations on thawing permafrost: watch a 6x6 ground-temperature heatmap, a foundation elevation cross-section and a scrolling air/ground temperature time series respond to climate warming, thermosyphon coverage and soil ice content.

As permafrost warms, buildings founded directly on frozen ground face thaw settlement, where ice-rich soil loses volume and load-bearing strength as it crosses 0°C. This 2D companion drops the 3D isometric scene entirely and instead renders the same 6×6-column relaxation model — including the latent-heat-buffered thaw physics and the passive, one-way thermosyphon cooling loop — as three native 2D views: a colour-mapped temperature heatmap of the soil grid, a side elevation showing the building sinking and tilting as its corner piles thaw, and a scrolling time-series graph of air, whole-grid and pile temperatures that makes the latent-heat plateau near 0°C directly visible as a flattening curve. Push the climate warmer, strip away thermosyphon coverage, or reduce ground ice content, and watch all three views respond together in real time.
