SSP Climate Scenario Comparator — 2D Phase Portrait
A 2D time-series and phase-space view of the same two-layer energy-balance climate model: pick an SSP emissions pathway, tune climate sensitivity, ocean heat uptake and mitigation pace, and watch surface/deep-ocean warming trace a trajectory in T1-T2 phase space.
Climate projections aren't a single forecast — they're a family of "what if" pathways called Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs), each paired with a 2100 radiative-forcing target (its name: SSP1-2.6 through SSP5-8.5). This 2D companion drives the same real two-layer energy-balance model as the 3D version, but visualizes it natively in 2D: a time-series chart of forcing and both temperature boxes, plus a T₁-T₂ phase-space portrait that reveals the deep ocean's thermal lag as a curve bowing away from the equilibrium diagonal.
