Galvanic & Electrolytic Cell Simulator
Interactive 3D electrochemical cell: pick two metal electrodes, watch electrons and ions flow, and switch between a spontaneous galvanic cell and an externally driven electrolysis cell while the Nernst equation updates live.
This simulation builds a two-electrode electrochemical cell from scratch: choose any pair of metals from magnesium to silver, set each beaker's ion concentration, and watch electrons drift through the external wire while ions migrate through the salt bridge below. Switch between a spontaneous galvanic cell — where the Nernst equation alone decides which rod dissolves and which one plates — and an electrolysis cell, where an external applied voltage can force the reaction to run backwards. Every stat on the left, from E°cell to ΔG, recomputes live as you move the sliders.
Interactive 3D electrochemical cell: pick any two metal electrodes, set each beaker's ion concentration, and switch between a spontaneous galvanic cell and an externally driven electrolysis cell while the Nernst equation, reaction quotient and free energy update live and electrons/ions visibly change direction.
