Bacteria Competition — Lotka-Volterra Lab (2D)

2D Canvas companion: run the Lotka-Volterra competition equations for two bacterial strains and watch the time series and phase-plane nullclines draw live, tune growth rates, carrying capacities and competition coefficients to flip between coexistence, competitive exclusion and the founder effect.

The 3D version of this simulator renders the same Lotka-Volterra competition model through a Three.js scene. This 2D companion drops the WebGL layer entirely and draws the two charts — a population time series and a phase-plane with live nullclines — straight onto a plain canvas, so the underlying ecology reads cleanly with nothing to orbit or load. Drag any of the six sliders (growth rates, carrying capacities, competition coefficients) and the outcome badge updates instantly: stable coexistence, competitive exclusion by either strain, or an unstable founder-effect equilibrium where the winner depends on which strain started larger.

⚙ Under the hood

A 2D companion to the 3D Bacteria Competition simulator: the same Euler-integrated Lotka-Volterra competition equations for two bacterial strains, drawn as a time series and a phase-plane with nullclines on a plain HTML5 canvas.
