Summer Water Station Design Lab (2D)

2D top-down apiary lab: place a hive water station and watch foraging bees score it against the neighbour's pool using distance, scent/mineral appeal and floating landing rafts — the same formula driving the 3D scene.

This 2D companion strips the 3D apiary scene down to the mechanic that actually decides where thirsty bees go: a scoring contest between your water station and the neighbour's always-wet, always-available pool. Distance costs score, scent or mineral appeal and floating landing rafts add it, and the resulting probability split sends each forager to one source or the other on every trip, with hotter "colony thirst" simply putting more foragers in the air at once.

⚙ Under the hood

Top-down 2D apiary lab: a linear appeal-minus-distance scoring formula for the station and a fixed-distance pool, converted to a per-trip choice probability, driving an instanced forager state machine (hive → target → land → hive).
