Exclusive Economic Zone & Maritime Boundary Simulator
Interactive 3D model of UNCLOS maritime zones: drag the strait width between two coastal states and watch the 12 nmi territorial sea, 24 nmi contiguous zone, 200 nmi EEZ and the Article 15 equidistance median line redraw in real time.
Two coastal states face each other across a strait. This simulator computes, for every point of sea, the true nearest-point distance to each state's baseline and renders the resulting UNCLOS zones — 12 nmi territorial sea, 24 nmi contiguous zone, 200 nmi exclusive economic zone, and an optional 350 nmi extended continental shelf claim — as a live 3D map. Drag the strait width apart and the two 200 nmi claims stop overlapping; bring the coasts closer and Article 15's default equidistance median line reappears exactly where the two distances are equal, with the affected zone of overlap reported in nautical miles alongside each state's total claimed area.
