This 2D top-down simulator models one such chokepoint as a capacity-constrained channel — tankers spawn to meet global demand, crawl when a disruption cuts the strait's effective throughput below what the world wants moved, and can be sent on a long detour around the blockage instead of waiting. A constant-elasticity supply-shock model converts the resulting physical shortfall into a live price index, plotted alongside throughput on a rolling strip chart, showing why short-run oil demand's inelasticity turns even a partial closure into a disproportionate price spike.
