Kite Flying — 2D Aerodynamics (2D)

Interactive 2D side-view kite-flying simulator: tune wind speed, string length/angle and the kite's angle of attack, and watch real lift, drag and string-tension forces balance in flight.

This 2D side-view simulator flies a kite on a tether using real aerodynamic forces: wind speed and the kite's angle of attack set lift and drag through lift/drag coefficient curves that peak, then stall, past roughly 20 degrees, while the string continuously supplies whatever tension is needed to balance gravity, lift and drag at the chosen string length and ground angle. Drag the wind-speed, string-length, string-angle and angle-of-attack sliders and watch the kite settle into a new equilibrium position with live lift, drag, tension and altitude readouts, or let auto-trim hunt for the angle of attack that climbs highest in the current wind.

⚙ Under the hood

Side-view 2D kite-flying simulator with real aerodynamics: wind speed and angle of attack drive lift and drag through a stalling coefficient curve, while string tension continuously balances gravity, lift and drag at the chosen string length and ground angle. Live readouts for lift, drag, tension and altitude.
