Real life-support hardware is not certified by a functional test alone — it has to survive the exact thermal and vacuum environment of the mission first. This simulator runs a genuine thermal-vacuum (TVAC) qualification test on a CO2-scrubber test article: a pump-down equation drains chamber pressure at a rate you control, a thermal model drives the article through hot and cold soaks at a ramp rate you set, and a sorbent-bed performance curve tracks scrubber efficiency as the article is stressed. Push the pump too slow, the thermal swing too wide, or the ramp too aggressive, and the hardware fails to hold pass criteria across the full 3-cycle qualification sequence — exactly the trade-offs a real test engineer has to balance before signing off a flight unit.
