Modifying a spacecraft's life-support hardware is never a simple parts swap — it is a formal engineering change with a change control board, an approved window, and a safety margin that has to survive the whole procedure. This simulator models the physical consequence of exactly that: take the primary CO₂ scrubber offline for a change order, watch the standby unit alone try to keep cabin CO₂ under control for the length of the approved window, and see whether the change completes cleanly or forces an abort when the emergency limit is crossed. Adjust crew size, standby capacity and window length to find the combinations a real change board would — and wouldn't — approve.
