This simulator models the thermal balance of an EVA spacesuit's Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment (LCVG): metabolic heat generated by the astronaut's activity is picked up by chilled water circulating through tubing sewn against the skin, then rejected to the vacuum of space when sublimator feedwater ice sublimates. Two coupled thermal nodes — core body temperature and loop water temperature — evolve from real heat-balance equations as you change activity level, coolant flow rate, sublimator feedwater rate and external solar/shade heat load, with the coolant loop rendered as an animated 3D tube around a schematic astronaut torso, colored from cool to warm along its length.

⚙ Under the hood

Balance an astronaut's metabolic heat load against a spacesuit's Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment: tune activity level, coolant flow, sublimator feedwater rate and external heat load to keep core body temperature and loop water temperature in a safe range during EVA work.
