Print Registration Control 2D — Phase-Error Strip Chart

Interactive 2D simulator of a web offset press color-registration servo: a top-down conveyor view shows CMYK print marks drifting off the key reference under tension disturbance, paired with a scrolling registration-error strip chart, closed-loop proportional control, and a drag-to-pan / zoom camera over the printed web history.

A web offset press has to keep four separate print units — cyan, magenta, yellow and key — landing on the exact same spot on a paper web moving at hundreds of meters per minute, or the printed image shows visible color fringing. This 2D simulator renders the real feedback loop from a top-down conveyor view: optical registration-mark sensors report each color's phase error against the black reference, and a servo controller advances or retards that unit's plate-cylinder rotation to cancel the drift, while a scrolling strip chart plots each color's error against time. Drive the web faster, inject more tension disturbance, tune the controller gain, flip closed-loop control on or off, and drag or zoom the conveyor view to inspect the printed history in detail.

2D top-down simulator of a web offset press color-registration servo: watch CMYK print marks drift off the key reference under tension disturbance on a draggable, zoomable conveyor view, alongside a scrolling registration-error strip chart, as a closed-loop proportional controller pulls each color back into alignment.
