EOD Robot Arm 2D: Planar Manipulator Inverse Kinematics
2D side-view simulator of a police EOD bomb-disposal robot's 2-link manipulator: analytic inverse kinematics (law of cosines) reaches a suspect device in the shoulder-elbow plane, a top-down inset shows turret bearing, and a proportional force-feedback loop closes the claw to a safe clamp force. Drag to pan, scroll to zoom.
This is the 2D side-view companion to the 3D EOD manipulator simulator. Because the arm is fundamentally planar — a shoulder and elbow rotating in one vertical plane, with the turret only choosing which way that plane faces — a flat cross-section is actually the clearest way to see the inverse-kinematics solve at work. Drag the target's distance and bearing, dial in a safe grip force, then run the approach-and-grasp sequence and watch the joint angles, reach error and live grip force update in real time. Drag the canvas to pan and scroll to zoom; a top-down inset shows the turret's bearing to the device.
