Sumo Robot Duel 2D: FOV Cone & Ring-Edge Strategy

Interactive 2D top-down sumo-robot simulator: two autonomous mini-sumo bots search, charge and push inside a dohyo ring using a proximity sensor cone and edge sensors, exactly like real FIRST Robotics / mini-sumo competition bots. Drag to pan and scroll to zoom the arena, tune field of view, sensor range, charge speed and strategy, and watch a live polar sensor readout and win rate change in real time.

Mini-sumo is one of the classic educational-robotics competition formats (FIRST Robotics clubs, RoboCup Junior): two autonomous robots share a circular ring, each trying to push the other across the boundary line without falling out themselves. This top-down 2D simulator runs the same finite-state controller for both bots as the 3D version — search, detect an opponent inside a sensor field-of-view cone via a dot-product test, charge, and reverse away from the ring edge — built on differential-drive kinematics. A dedicated polar panel plots the field-of-view test itself (cos θ against the cos(FOV/2) threshold) so you can see exactly why a bot does or doesn't spot its opponent, alongside a rolling distance sparkline. Drag the arena to pan and scroll to zoom while tuning Blue's sensor field of view, sensor range, charge speed and attack strategy against Red's fixed baseline controller.
