🔘 Coulomb Diamond Stability Diagram: a Quantum Dot SET

2D charge-stability diagram (Coulomb diamonds) of a single-electron transistor: a live steady-state current heatmap over gate charge and bias voltage, plus a scrolling telegraph-signal strip chart of the dot's stochastic charge state, computed from the same orthodox theory of single-electron tunneling as the 3D version.

This is the 2D-native counterpart to the 3D single-electron-transistor simulator: instead of a physical mock-up with flying electron spheres, it draws the two plots an actual SET measurement produces. The top panel is a real steady-state solution of the birth–death master equation over the dot's integer charge states, rendered as a live heatmap in the (gate charge, bias voltage) plane — the classic Coulomb-diamond stability diagram. The bottom panel runs a genuine single-trajectory Gillespie Monte Carlo of the same rates in real time, plotted as a scrolling telegraph signal of the dot's charge n(t) with tick marks for every stochastic tunneling event. Drag inside the diamond plot to sweep the operating point and watch both the analytic steady state and the live stochastic trace respond together.

⚙ Under the hood

2D charge-stability diagram of a single-electron transistor: an exact steady-state current heatmap over gate charge and source-drain bias (the classic Coulomb diamonds), paired with a live scrolling telegraph-signal strip chart of the dot's stochastic charge state, both computed from the same orthodox theory of single-electron tunneling as the 3D version. Click or drag inside the diamond plot to sweep the operating point.
