Planet Impact Simulator (2D)

A 2D cross-section impact-physics lab: impactor diameter, velocity, angle and composition drive a real kinetic-energy and crater-scaling calculation against Earth, Mars or Venus, with a side-view trajectory, crater formation and ejecta.

This 2D companion runs the same kinetic-energy and crater-scaling formulas as the 3D original — impactor diameter, velocity, impact angle and composition against a chosen planet's radius and density — through a flat cross-section view instead of an orbiting camera: the impactor arcs in along a straight trajectory, strikes the surface, and the crater, flash and ejecta on screen are sized directly from the computed energy and crater diameter rather than an animation guess.

⚙ Under the hood

Impact energy from E=½mv², crater diameter from a pi-group scaling law (grows with size, speed and impact angle; shrinks against a denser target), rendered as a 2D side-view trajectory, crater and ejecta.
