This 2D companion runs the same kinetic-energy and crater-scaling formulas as the 3D version — impactor diameter, velocity, angle and material against a target planet's radius and density — through a flat cross-section view: the impactor arcs in at the chosen angle, strikes the surface, and the resulting crater, flash and ejecta are sized directly from the computed numbers rather than an animation guess.
