Uranium Ion-Exchange Resin Column (2D)

Interactive 2D ion-exchange column simulator: pregnant leach solution flows down through a uranium-selective resin bed, a finite-difference advection-dispersion-LDF solver drives a real S-shaped breakthrough curve as the resin saturates, then switch to acid elution and watch the concentrated uranium peak strip back out.

This 2D column simulator solves a real advection-dispersion transport equation coupled to a Langmuir-equilibrium, linear-driving-force uptake model as pregnant leach solution flows down through a uranium-selective resin bed. Watch the loading front — the mass-transfer zone — travel down the bed slice by slice while the live breakthrough curve stays flat at zero, then climbs in an S-shape once the front reaches the outlet. Switch to elution once the bed is loaded and the same equations run in reverse: acid strips uranium back off the resin into a concentrated eluate peak, the step that turns dilute leach liquor into a small, uranium-rich stream ready for precipitation.
