Edge Network Topology & Latency (2D): Star vs Mesh
Interactive 2D edge-computing network simulator: compare star and mesh topologies, watch packets travel real Dijkstra-routed paths with propagation and per-hop processing delay, and fail nodes to see how each topology handles a single point of failure.
Edge computing's whole value proposition rests on cutting the distance data has to travel — but the wiring diagram matters as much as the distance. This simulator builds a real routed graph of edge devices, a hub or gateway, and a distant cloud, computing every packet's latency from physical propagation delay plus per-hop processing delay and routing each one with Dijkstra's algorithm. Switch between star topology (all devices one hop from a central hub) and mesh topology (devices relay peer-to-peer toward a gateway), then fail the hub or a random device to watch, live, how each topology's latency and delivery rate respond to the same fault.
